She Was Pretty

This drama aired in September 2015 and starred the most famous Hallyu star Par Seo Joon along with Hwang Jung Em. The second lead was even more surprising especially for Kpop fans. They casted Choi Siwon from Super Junior   Plot: The drama is about a girl looking for an accounting job but somehow ends up working in the editorial committee of a fashion magazine. Her real troubles begin when the apocalypse of her life arrives from the US as the editore of that magazine.   Hye Jin: The female lead (Hwang Jung Em) of the drama is to date the best casting I have ever seen. Jung Em can overact and still look pretty. Well, that’s the point of the drama. Hye jin never realized that even though she had curly hairs (Which I have no idea but is not appreciated in Korea), tanned skin along with unusual pink freckles, she was still pretty. Her character is quite meek, submissive, and there is a reason for it. She was rejected and shammed by so many people that she never thought...

The K-drama World

OH MY VENUS!  The drama that aired in 2016 in Korea was a blockbuster. It had 16 episodes and starred the most beautiful Venus Shin Min-a along with the epitome of manliness, So Ji Sub .  The drama explored the life of Kand Joo Eun (min-a) who is overweight and is insecure about her body. She is a lawyer who leads has an unhealthy lifestyle but does not want to change. The story begins when she meets the male lead, Kim Young Ho. Young Ho is the Lee Min Ho (No wonder the manes are similar) of the drama. He is the son of a chairman and is rich but is cold. He is aloof and runs away from his responsibility as a CEO.  There are two other side roles by Sung Hoon and Henry Lau , the best bromance in history. Whenever the mood of the drama falls down these guys just light it up with their dry humor. The second female lead is a villain as usual along with the second male lead who is her partner. Kang Joo Eun Not many Korean dramas have a female lead who is not miserable and d...

Life had never been disappointed at you

When I was 16 my mother used to say, "This is not what I wanted to be. I wanted to be more." At that time it was funny how all I could feel was 'Didn’t you want to get married? Didn’t you want to be a housewife'? Only now that I am 21, I realize 'Even I wouldn’t want to be just a married woman. I want to be more'. Back then these sweet dreams were all I could fill my teenage brian with. All my friends would do the same. Somewhere or the other I still want to get married. But with conditions. I want to be more than just a married woman. Sometimes I feel my ambitions are too big for this small-minded world. I might have to stay alone all my life. Even that is fine with me. I don’t need anyone else to be me. I can work. I can get home. I can get a car. I can be happy. I don’t need a license for that. There are so many girls still living their teenage dreams. And even that’s fine. It is their choice. To be a housewife or to work, it is their decision. Every one of...

The Real Thing in Asian Comics.

I have read endless comics and novels but they all are the same. No matter the author or creator. Everything ends up at the same cross ends. Unless the author is writing about a completely different genre. Some of the comics I have really loved and grown along with but in the end, they give the same stereotypical girl ends up with the guy ending. Never have I seen the girl becoming free of all the ties and just a starting on her own, independent and bold. Maybe this term does not exist in the comic dictionaries. Most of the mangas, manhwa, and Chinese comics I have read are based on a rich man and poor girl plot. Sometimes I wonder if these guys have just plagiarized each other's writings. How does every story end up having a docile and submissive poor girl? The girl usually has abusive parents or is an orphan. The guy character is usually a rich CEO who is cold-hearted tsundere. He is abusive and cold towards the main female lead but has all the time to flirt around with ot...
