She Was Pretty

This drama aired in September 2015 and starred the most famous Hallyu star Par Seo Joon along with Hwang Jung Em. The second lead was even more surprising especially for Kpop fans. They casted Choi Siwon from Super Junior

Plot:

The drama is about a girl looking for an accounting job but somehow ends up working in the editorial committee of a fashion magazine. Her real troubles begin when the apocalypse of her life arrives from the US as the editore of that magazine.

Hye Jin:

The female lead (Hwang Jung Em) of the drama is to date the best casting I have ever seen. Jung Em can overact and still look pretty. Well, that’s the point of the drama. Hye jin never realized that even though she had curly hairs (Which I have no idea but is not appreciated in Korea), tanned skin along with unusual pink freckles, she was still pretty. Her character is quite meek, submissive, and there is a reason for it. She was rejected and shammed by so many people that she never thought of herself as a person worthy of respect. Even her own younger sister makes fun of her looks. At times it just felt like she would just give up but surprisingly she kept fighting till the end. She was always determined by what she planned to do. To make everything work she familiarized herself with a subject that was completely off her area of expertise.

There is a very striking feature to her. In the end when her best friend confesses to her, she never gets angry. All the million times when her sister made fun of her she never got angry. She was such a loving character than no matter what happened she blamed anyone for it. She did get upset but never took it out on anyone. Finally, she was a very energetic person. Running around all the time doing the work which was not even hers.

Sung Joon:

To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with his character. After casting Park Seo Joon, they gave him such a dull character, just not what I expected. The character of this male lead is so quiet and dumb that at times I really shipped Siwon with the female lead. His character is arrogant (Typical k drama style), rude, authoritative, absentminded but creative. People would love the character just because he is Park Seo Joon but after watching his other dramas, it feels he is lacking energy here.

The drama has tried its best to show 60-40 percent of both the character's point of view. Because we see a lot of side stories of Sung Joon.

In the end he is just a marshmallow. One can't deny how adorable he looks when Hye Jin is around. He is understanding the fact that physical looks don’t matter. That’s all I have for him. Personally, I expected more out of this character but...

Second Leads:

This drama has really made me love the second leads. One a second I might have mistaken the second lead to be the main character because they are just so well cast. Siwon had absolutely rocked his part. There is no scene where it hasn’t made us laugh. He is like a perfect meme character. Absolutely amazing. The part where he calls her Jackson is still stuck in my mind. Whenever I hear Jackson his voice echo in my head. The second female lead is gorgeous. With her pixie cut and cute smile, I am in love. She is the typical rich second lead but places friendship before love. She even learns to be independent and ends up living on her own. This is the type of girl I would love to see as the protagonist next time. If only these two had a thing (Maybe in a parallel universe).

Drama:

The plot is full of drama and comedy. Or should I say Comedy, comedy, and a pinch of drama? However, I would have loved a little more bromance between Siwon and Joon. (Not complaining). The sistermance (Is that even a word) in the drama is very apt. That is how best friends are.

Yet the drama lacked somewhere. The drama has focused a lot on the female leads appearance(Of course the name but..). Beauty has many definitions. They have focused a lot on making her beautiful and attracting the male lead after becoming beautiful. She was pretty, to begin with, she did not have to go through the transformation and stuff.

But some might want to argue that by learning self-care she learned self-love. It's your call. I am just gonna say that all the comedy aside the drama was not soo unique.

Suspicious Partner- K-Drama

The drama aired in May 2017 and had 4o episodes. It was quite big for a normal drama but was worth it. The cast was the well known Hallyu star Ji Chang Wook along with Nam Ji Hyun. Choi Tae Joon and Kwon Nara were the side characters. I FELL FOR THE VILLIAN. No kidding. More than the main leads, the villain's acting was superb. He was the perfect psychopath I had ever seen. This drama is one of the best crime - thriller ever made. (Point of view from an outsider.)   BONG HEE: Let's take a moment to appreciate Nam Ji Hyun's visuals. Her part as Bong Hee is the best one so far. She is so consistent in the drama that it is cute. Also knows Taekwondo. Which is new. It is rare to see girls in kdrama as some athlete persons unless the drama is based on that theme. Her struggles are real as well- being a lawyer charged with murder and stuff. Sometimes one feels pity for her. However, the character in the drama is portrayed as super naïve and innocent to the point that sometimes sh...

The Lost Art

I was introduced to the world of spirituality and healing after I turned 20. I have always been a firm believer in supernatural beings and the divinity; however, I do not support idol worship. I believe there is a central power responsible for the working of this universe and it can be moulded in any clay with any name and any religion a human desires. The world of spirituality, however, is always confused with that of religion. There is no such relation between the two. One can be spiritual and non-religious. I developed this distinction between them last January when I met with a Brazilian spiritual healer. She explained to me the difference between the two with much ease. She also opened me to the cosmic world and its energies. "The easiest and surest way to tap into the cosmic energy around you is Intuition" she explained. Her way of reading the intuition was through Zen stones and stone charms. She used this intuition to help herself and others who asked for her ad...

An Idea to Believe In

Kunal has always been a restless child. Studying for him was something he never planned on to do. So even after graduating from high school and giving his board examination, he didn't plan on doing engineering. Unlike his elder brother who did engineering got a job in an MNC and is settled abroad with a ransom salary, Kunal was nothing compared to him. At the age of 18, he declared at home that he is quitting his engineering coaching. Engineering and Medical coaching is a trend in a small industrial town like Jamshedpur. With the literacy rate of 99 %, Jamshedpur boasts a high number of students enrolling into medical and engineering colleges. The situation has become so intense that 8 out of 10 students will opt for one of the two. Kunal wasn't interested in the trend, he enrolled for a diploma and said he wanted to do something of his own. So he did. He is one of the local entrepreneurs the city has seen. Even though Jamshedpur is an industrial city and very few entreprene...
